The Pastor’s cat

 This particular story just made me laugh. Every time I think about it, the vision of that poor cat just amuses me to no end. Whoever said the Creator doesn’t have a sense of humor?

Dwight Nelson recently told a true story about the pastor of his church. He had a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The pastor coaxed, offered warm milk, etc. The kitty would not come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the pastor decided that if he tied a rope to his car and pulled it until the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten. That’s what he did, all the while checking his progress in the car. He then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten. But as he moved the car a little further forward, the rope broke. The tree went ‘boing!’ and the kitten instantly sailed through the air – out of sight. The pastor felt terrible. He walked all over the neighborhood asking people if they’d seen a little kitten. No. Nobody had seen a stray kitten. So he prayed, ‘Lord, I just commit this kitten to your keeping,’ and went on about his business.

A few days later he was at the grocery store, and met one of his church members. He happened to look into her shopping cart and was amazed to see cat food. This woman was a cat hater and everyone knew it, so he asked her, Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?’ She replied, ‘You won’t believe this,’ and then told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing. Then a few days before, the child had begged again, so the Mom finally told her little girl, ‘Well, if God gives you a cat, I’ll let you keep it.’ She told the pastor, ‘I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her knees, and ask God for a cat. And really, Pastor, you won’t believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws outspread, and landed right in front of her.’

GIVE ME A SENSE OF HUMOR, LORD.   GIVE ME THE GRACE TO SEE A JOKE, TO GET SOME HUMOR OUT OF LIFE AND PASS IT ON TO OTHER FOLKS. AMEN !

El gato del pastor

Esta historia me hizo reír. Cada vez que pienso en ello, la visión de ese pobre gato sólo me divierte a más no poder. ¿Quién dijo que el Creador no tiene sentido del humor?

Dwight Nelson, recientemente contó una historia real sobre el pastor de su iglesia. Él tenía un gato que se subió a un árbol en su patio trasero y luego tuvo miedo de bajar. El pastor trató de convencerlo, le ofreció leche caliente, etc. El gatito no bajaba. El árbol no era lo suficientemente resistente como para subir, por lo que el pastor decidió que si ataba una cuerda a su coche y tiraba de él hasta que el árbol se inclinara, entonces podría alcanzar al gatito. Eso es lo que hizo, a la vez que controlaba su avance con el coche. Entonces pensó que si iba un poco más allá, el árbol se inclinaría lo suficiente para llegar al gatito. Pero a medida que avanzaba el coche un poco más, la cuerda se rompió. El árbol hizo ‘boing! y el gatito al instante voló por el aire –fuera de la vista. El pastor se sintió muy mal. Caminó por todo el vecindario preguntando a la gente si había visto a un pequeño gatito. No. Nadie había visto a un gato callejero. Así que oró: «Señor, yo sólo encomiendo este gatito a tu cuidado», y siguió a lo suyo.

Unos días más tarde estaba en la tienda de comestibles, y se encontró con uno de los miembros de su iglesia. Él miró en su cesta de la compra y se sorprendió al ver comida para gatos. Esta mujer era enemiga de los gatos y todo el mundo lo sabía, así que le preguntó: ¿Por qué compra comida para gatos cuando los odia tanto? Ella respondió: «No va a creer esto», y luego le contó cómo su pequeña hija había estado pidiendo un gato, pero ella seguía negándose. Unos días antes, la niña lo había pedido de nuevo, así que la mamá finalmente le dijo: ‘Bueno, si Dios te da un gato, voy a dejar que lo tengas». Ella le dijo al pastor: «Yo veía a mi hija salir al patio, ponerse de rodillas y pedir a Dios un gato. Y realmente, Pastor, no va a creer esto, pero yo lo vi con mis propios ojos. Un gatito de repente salió volando del cielo azul, con las patas extendidas, y aterrizó justo en frente de ella».

Nunca subestimes el poder de Dios y su particular sentido del humor.

Cualquiera puede contar las semillas de una manzana, pero sólo Dios puede contar las manzanas en una semilla.
